Explore spectacular limestone formations in the Royal and Fairy caves. Guided tours run daily through chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites and underground pools formed over millions of years.
Wild ocean beaches, crystal-clear rock pools and coastal heathland. Cape Conran is one of the best-kept surf secrets in East Gippsland, with empty breaks and campsites right behind the dunes.
Where the Snowy River meets the sea. Marlo offers sheltered estuary swimming, ocean surf beaches, and four boat ramps for anglers. The local pub serves cold beer and fresh-cooked meals with the locals.

A flat, scenic cycling and walking path following the old railway line from Bairnsdale to Orbost. Ride through farmland, forest and over the historic Snowy River Rail Bridge — Victoria’s longest timber trestle bridge.
At nearly one kilometre long, this restored timber trestle bridge stretches across the Snowy River floodplain with mountain views in every direction. Stage 1 restoration was completed in 2024, and visitors can now walk the full length.
Orbost’s main street is a short stroll from the apartments. Browse the bakery, grab coffee from a local roaster, or stop in at the craft brewery. The monthly farmers’ market brings Gippsland producers into one place.
Summer (Dec–Feb) — Warm days perfect for beach trips to Marlo and Lakes Entrance. The rail trail is at its best in the early morning light.
Autumn (Mar–May) — Mild weather, fewer crowds, and the Snowy River fishing season in full swing. The colours in the national park are spectacular.
Winter (Jun–Aug) — Quiet, crisp days. Ideal for cave tours at Buchan, whale watching from the coast, and long evenings by the fire back at the apartment.
Spring (Sep–Nov) — Wildflowers across the heathlands, migrating birds, and the first warm days returning to the coast.
